Prelude Publishing is a dedicated licensing company that is based on the concept of helping exceptional independent musicians.

Jason Gruen (Founder/CEO/President) and Leslie Deckard (Vice-President) launched Prelude Publishing to showcase independent artists in a variety of media.  As members of Lucid Records for over a year, they recognized that most labels do not have the resources to aggressively explore licensing opportunities for the majority of their artists’ music. By leaving Lucid Records, they combined their experience and focus to directly help bands profit from the music already created.

In the first two years Prelude Publishing’s artists have seen their music in a wide variety of placements. To name a few Immoor’s music has been heard on ESPN, Gossip Girl & in collaboration with Goddamn Electric Bill the Sundance Film Festival success Douchebag. In addition to composing the score for Douchebag, Goddamn Electric Bill could also be heard in The Real World, commercials for Etinies, and upcoming digital short Freeride, Mexico. Emily Long has been heard in two The WB web series The Lake & Sorrority Forever. Prizzy Prizzy Please was featured multiple times in MTV’s Bromance. State had a song featured in the full-length action film Gutter King.

Prelude Publishing distinguishes themselves from other publishing companies by demonstrating a personal approach with all of the artists they sign.  All of the artists on their roster have music they believe in. This is a company that is active in representing their artists’ music to all possible avenues.  Music will not be downloadable from this website, but will be used for interested buyers to be able to listen to the variety of tracks available for licensing through Prelude Publishing.  All dealings will be handled directly with one of the Prelude Publishing’s employees.
